The many advantages of manure separation at the source with Filterfloor

The innovative Filterfloor system offers many advantages. More animal welfare and better animal health often means lower costs. In addition, more financial benefits are possible because your organic manure remains of significantly better quality and the minerals are better preserved. This organic fertilizer stimulates biodiversity and improves soil fertility, resulting in optimal yields. Besides from the point of view of corporate social responsibility: Filterfloor prevents the formation of slurry and the associated emissions of ammonia and greenhouse gases such as methane, hydrogen sulphide and other harmful gases.

Animal welfare

The Filterfloor is comfortable. The floor is flexible, so that your animals can lie and walk relaxed and show their natural behaviour in the barn as well. Less ammonia gas is released into the stable air, so the animals breathe clean air. Adequate grip ensures a reliable and secure feeling. Filterfloor is an alternative to organic floors so that less or no labour-intensive litter is needed for dry walking and lying comfort. Finally the floor reduces the risk of stress and health problems, which can increase the lifespan.

Animal health

Filterfloor separates the manure flows at the source. This prevents emissions of harmful slurry gases in the barn because there is no longer a decaying process in the slurry cellar, which greatly improves the living environment for the animals and the working environment for their caretakers. In addition, the moisture-permeable panels are dry, soft and flexible so that the animals in the barn walk and lie comfortably and in a natural position. This prevents the risk of physical complaints in cows and horses such as claw, hoof or joint problems.

Valuable manure flows

The direct separation of manure results in two valuable manure flows. The first is a thick, phosphate-rich fraction with a lot of organic matter and the second is a thin, nitrogen-rich and calcium-rich fraction. These offer the farmer many possibilities for customised fertilisation such as: precision fertilisation, reprocessing to a mineral concentrate and the generation of energy through biogas production. The reuse of organic fertilisers can reduce the use of artificial fertilisers, which saves costs and indirectly leads to a significant reduction in CO2 emissions from production and transport of these artificial fertilisers.
This also contributes directly to the development of climate-neutral agriculture. An additional advantage is that local agriculture becomes less dependent on the supply of minerals from politically unstable countries.

Soil improvement

Solid manure contains a lot of organic matter. Therefore direct separation at the source keeps it better available. The humus layer is enriched and the soil fertility is improved by adding organic matter. This can be enriched even further by adding plant material for extra carbon in the humus layer. Such a healthy soil is essential, it is a guarantee for more yield, better water management and CO2 storage.

Environment

The current environmental requirements for the livestock sector in the Netherlands are aimed at the rapid removal of both fractions and the reduction of ammonia produced inside the barn. Separating the two fractions at the source and storing them separately means that no more slurry is produced. This greatly reduces the emission of ammonia, but also the other (greenhouse gas) emissions

Globally applicable

The Filterfloor offers opportunities and solutions in countries all over the world, such as countries where soil health is poor and artificial fertilisers are only available to a limited extent.

Filterfloor is a start-up that develops and markets a unique, patented Filterfloor system for manure separation at the source. As a start-up, we have gained several years of experience. The development has reached the final phase, which is why we are looking for early adopters who are prepared to give access to their barns for testing the patented Filterfloor system. These pilot projects are intended for research into final emission measurements.

    Filterfloor

Filterfloor is a revolutionary barn floor system that separates urine and faeces at the source.

The Filterfoor prevents slurry formation, so that minerals and organic matter remain more available and emissions are greatly reduced.
